Arne Jacobsen Petrol Station, Denmark

Arne Jacobsen’s Petrol Station, Denmark

Another Danish icon I’ve long looked forward to seeing in person; the Arne Jacobsen petrol station near Skovshoved Harbour, just outside of Copenhagen. An icon of early modernist design, the petrol station from 1937 brought a new architectural trend to Denmark - and especially to the area of Bellevue with Jacobsen also designing his ‘white city’, with the Bellevue Theatre, the beach baths, and the Bellavista Housing Development all in Jacobsen’s signature style.
