Rainbow Spotting: London V&A Museum

London is lucky to have a multitude of amazing museums and galleries to visit in the city. Undoubtedly one of the best and most beautiful is the V&A, the Victoria & Albert Museum. An enormous building, with an unfathomably huge collection of art to take in (for free!) there’s really no chance you can see it all in one visit. The last couple of times I’ve been, I’ve chosen just one or two areas that I want to see, to make the most of the time and cut down on the overwhelm and ‘museum fatigue’ that can set in. On my last visit, my area of choice was the jewellery room - and wow, for this particular rainbow spotter it did not disappoint. The wall of gems from around the world made my heart skip a beat; seeing these breathtaking jewels arranged in a colour wheel is incredible.

Other honourable mentions at the V&A are the floor tiles (pink and green marble) and the stunning dining rooms next to the cafeterias which each have their own lovely histories. My favourite is The Gamble Room, with its giant pendant chandeliers and stained glass windows. If there’s ever been a fancier room to have a cup of tea and eat your sandwich, I’d like to see it.
