Les Cactus, Palm Springs

I’d be lying if I said I would never choose a hotel based solely on its colour theme, but when I saw some preview pictures of Les Cactus in Palm Springs ahead of its official opening in February 2020, I just about squealed with delight and knew I had to visit. Pink and green, absolute Palm Springs perfection!

Les Cactus is a 27 room boutique hotel, the perfect split between BnB and luxury resort. Built in the 1930s and 1940s, and a past life as a nude resort, Les Cactus has been revamped and restored to a really gorgeous hotel that is considered, thoughtful, and aesthetically beautiful (and clothes on, please and thank you). All the hotel amenities you could need - WiFi, pool, in room kettle, complimentary on-site parking - and beautiful BnB touches such as the fresh pastries and coffee at the continental breakfast, popcorn to help yourself to throughout the day, and hammocks and sun chairs for lazing the day away. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and all staff are attentive and helpful. Les Cactus is adults only (guests must be 21+), but furry friends can join you for an additional fee. Citrus trees dot the property (which you’re welcome to pick), a cozy fire pit is set up, and the pool and hot tub are heated to the ideal temperatures. Everything about Les Cactus is incredibly chic, and the type of place I could happily spend days just pottering about between the hammocks, the bed (like sleeping on a fluffy cloud), the pool loungers and back again.

A big plus for Les Cactus as a traveller trying to make sustainable choices, is how the hotel’s own eco-friendly choices translate to the amenities. Guests are gifted a metal reusable drink bottle at check-in (a very cute Les Cactus branded one), and encouraged to fill up at the water stations placed by the pool or in the kitchen. All cutlery and crockery is washable, and bathrooms have refillable toiletries. Everything feels luxurious and considered, but without having to compromise on quality or convenience in the process.

We stayed for 2 nights in a ‘Comfortable Room’ at Les Cactus, generously gifted by Greater Palm Springs. All opinions are my own, and I will absolutely be booking my own future stays at Les Cactus — I can’t wait to come back. If you’re looking for a boutique stay in Palm Springs, Les Cactus is the spot to be!
